Time Calculator FAQs

To add time durations: 1) Select the Arithmetic mode, 2) Enter your first time duration in days, hours, minutes, and seconds, 3) Click the Add (+) operation button, 4) Enter your second time duration, 5) Click Calculate. The calculator will automatically handle overflow (e.g., 90 minutes becomes 1 hour 30 minutes). You can add multiple time durations by using the result as input for the next calculation.

Switch to Difference mode and enter your start date/time and end date/time. The calculator will show the exact duration between them in multiple formats: total days, hours, minutes, seconds, and also broken down into years, months, days, etc. You can also enable "Exclude Weekends" to calculate business days only, which is useful for work-related calculations. The result includes both the total elapsed time and a detailed breakdown.

Yes! Use the Convert mode to convert between seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Enter your value, select the "from" unit and "to" unit, then calculate. The calculator shows the result instantly and also provides a grid of common conversions for quick reference. For example, you can convert 90 minutes to 1.5 hours, or 48 hours to 2 days. The conversion is precise and handles decimal values.

The Time Zone mode converts a specific date and time from one time zone to another. Select your source time zone, enter the date and time, then select your target time zone. The calculator automatically accounts for Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes and shows the converted time. This is perfect for scheduling international meetings, planning travel, or coordinating with remote teams. You can also use the "Use Current Time" button to quickly convert the current moment.

Use Difference mode to calculate work hours: enter your clock-in time as the start and clock-out time as the end. The result shows total hours worked. For multiple days, add each day's hours using Arithmetic mode. To calculate overtime: if you worked 45 hours and standard is 40, subtract 40 hours from 45 hours to get 5 hours overtime. You can also use the "Work Day" preset (8 hours) and multiply by the number of days worked.

Calendar days include all days (Monday-Sunday), while business days exclude weekends (Saturday and Sunday). When calculating time differences, enable "Exclude Weekends" to count only business days. For example, from Friday to Monday is 3 calendar days but only 1 business day. This is important for project deadlines, shipping estimates, and work-related calculations. Note that this calculator excludes weekends but doesn't account for holidays, which vary by location.

Yes! In Arithmetic mode, select the Multiply (×) or Divide (÷) operation. Enter your time duration and a multiplier/divisor value. For example, multiply 2 hours by 3 to get 6 hours, or divide 8 hours by 2 to get 4 hours. This is useful for calculating total time for repeated tasks, splitting time evenly, or determining average duration. The calculator handles decimal multipliers (e.g., 1.5) and automatically formats the result properly.

Our time calculator is precise to the second for all calculations. It properly handles time overflow (e.g., 90 seconds = 1 minute 30 seconds), leap years, and different month lengths. For time zone conversions, it uses the IANA time zone database and accounts for Daylight Saving Time changes. However, note that month and year conversions use approximations (30 days/month, 365 days/year) since actual lengths vary. For critical applications requiring exact calendar calculations, consider using the date-specific Difference mode.
